An important and much-loved part of Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is our dedicated Schools’ Day, and we’re delighted to announce that bookings are now officially open for Friday 12th June 2026.
This special day gives pupils the opportunity to step out of the classroom and onto a working farm, bringing the “Farm to Fork” journey to life through a fun, hands-on learning experience. Designed to support the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum, these visits help children better understand where their food comes from, while engaging directly with the farmers who produce it.
Across Northern Ireland, our friendly farm hosts are preparing to open their gates and share their stories. From meeting and petting animals to learning about crops and sustainable farming, it’s an experience that plays a role in inspiring the next generation of young farmers helping children see the possibilities within this vital industry and the role they can play in its future.
“Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is about connecting people with the story of our food, and that starts with our young people. Schools’ Day offers a unique opportunity to inspire and educate pupils about the importance of farming, sustainability and local produce. We look forward to welcoming schools from across the country for what promises to be a memorable and valuable experience.”
John McLenaghan Deputy President UFU
With demand high each year, we strongly encourage schools to book early as spaces are limited. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please note while the visit is completely free, schools will need to arrange their own transport!
