An important element of Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is our schools programme.
We invite schools to help their pupils learn about the ‘Farm to Fork’ message through an interactive on-farm experience on Friday 12th June. Teachers have found these visits a useful tool in delivering Foundation and Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum and to explain our food journey.
We would encourage all schools to consider organising a trip to your nearest participating farm. To see the farms closest to your school, visit our find a farm page. To book a schools visit download the OFW schools booking form 2020 and return to firstname.lastname@example.org.
As well as inviting schools to our participating farms, we also run an annual art competition offering some amazing prizes – see our competition page for more info.
To help teach your pupils in the classroom, we have created this PowerPoint presentation which you can use to introduce farming in Northern Ireland. There are teachers note which you can use as appropriate to your needs.
