The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend welcomes Moy Park on board as a new sponsor for 2020.
This year’s original event which was due to take place earlier this month was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions and will now be held virtually from Friday 31 July – Sunday 2 August.
Although visitors cannot physically attend farms this year, a host of online activities shown through Open Farm Weekend’s social media channels and www.openfarmweekend.com will still give the public the chance to connect and engage with 19 farms from across the province.
Justin Coleman, Agri Business and Live Production Services Director for Moy Park said, “This is an exciting year for us to launch our sponsorship of the Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend as the initiative goes virtual. We believe this format gives viewers from near and far the chance to learn more about the excellent Northern Ireland agri-food industry and farming families behind it. We are delighted to be involved in the initiative and are impressed with how it connects consumers to producers to help them learn more about the farm end of the production chain.”
Bank of Ireland Virtual Farm Weekend Project Manager Wendy Gallagher added: “This initiative was established in 2012 to showcase our farming industry and the wonderful work our farmers do. Its focus is to help the public, particularly those from a non-farming background to better understand how our food is produced and to raise awareness of how supply chains work, through our local food industry. Moy Park is a leading poultry producer with a long association to the NI agri-industry and we are delighted that they are partnering with us to raise the profile of the event and help celebrate our local farming families.”
