Ballynahone Farm is a proud third-generation family farm in Tobermore, County Londonderry, run today by Sarah Dickson alongside her mum, Margaret. Farming has been at the heart of the Dickson family for over 90 years, with the land first acquired around 1937 and passed down through generations, from Sarah’s grandfather, William John Dickson Senior, to her father, and now to Sarah herself. Growing up on the farm, Sarah was involved from a very young age, helping with lambing and calving, and today continues that hands-on tradition across the farm’s 34.5 acres.
Now home to a thriving pedigree Dexter herd, Ballynahone Farm specialises in producing high-quality, grass-fed beef, with a strong focus on native breeds and natural farming methods. The cattle are reared on a simple diet of grass, silage, and hay, resulting in exceptional flavour and quality that has earned a loyal local customer base through word of mouth. Alongside its award-winning cattle, recognised at local sales and shows including Balmoral, the farm offers visitors a warm, authentic experience of rural life, complete with a variety of animals including ponies, donkeys, goats, and more, making it a welcoming and engaging stop for all ages.
