Leading rural insurer NFU Mutual will continue as Platinum Sponsor of the Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend, returning this June and inviting families across Northern Ireland to experience life on the farm first-hand.
Organised by the Ulster Farmers’ Union, the free-to-attend event will run from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June. Over the course of the weekend, 23 farms will open their gates to visitors, offering a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into modern agriculture and showcasing the care and dedication that go into producing high-quality food for our tables every day.
NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer which also provides investments and pensions, has supported the event for more than a decade. Over the past 13 years, its backing has included funding from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust as well as specialist insurance cover for farming members welcoming visitors onto their land.
Lauren Finlay, Regional Manager at NFU Mutual Northern Ireland, pictured at Stonebridge Farm, said: “Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend opens the gate to real farm life, giving families and young people the chance to understand where their food comes from and meet the people behind it. Supporting this event reflects our commitment to Northern Ireland’s farming community and to nurturing the next generation’s connection with agriculture.”
NFU Mutual’s continued sponsorship this year will help raise awareness about farm safety, but also the strength and quality of Northern Ireland’s local food supply chain. Visitors can look forward to interactive demonstrations, educational activities and opportunities to connect directly with farmers and producers.
John McLenaghan, Deputy President of the Ulster Farmers’ Union, added:
“We are grateful for NFU Mutual’s unwavering support over the years and are delighted that they are continuing as Platinum Sponsor once again. Their commitment reflects a deep-rooted dedication to the farming community and rural life. Together, we look forward to providing an enriching experience for visitors and celebrating the agricultural heritage that makes Northern Ireland so special.”
Farms taking part in Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend will welcome schools on Friday 12 June and are open to the public on Saturday 13 June and Sunday 14 June. Participating farms can be found here:
