The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend presents a fantastic educational opportunity for your primary school group. Eight farms this year will be opening their gates to schools from across Northern Ireland to teach them all about food and farming.
The weekend is designed to educate and inform young people about local food and the work which goes into its production. The initiative teaches respect for the farming community and for food, encouraging an appreciation of healthy eating and an understanding of naturally produced (or whole) foods versus processed foods. The initiative can therefore play a part in teaching your pupils about healthy eating and respect for the natural environment.
